Raises Millions of Dollars to Battle HIV/AIDS
Throwing a party and raising millions of dollars for charity is not an easy task … Unless you have a guest list with some of Hollywood’s biggest names and you are 17 years running!
Sunday evening, The Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF) hosted its 17th Annual Academy Awards Viewing Party, a benefit to raise funds for HIV/AIDS prevention educational programs, the elimination of prejudice and discrimination against HIV/AIDS, and for programs that provide services to people living with HIV/AIDS.
This annual fundraiser dates back to a modest dinner in 1993 that raised $300,000 for the cause … 17 years later, EJAF’s Academy Awards Viewing Party has grown into a multimillion dollar annual benefit. Sunday evening’s guest list included a mixture of musicians, models, actors and young and old stars – the Jonas Brothers, Lea Michele, Miley Cyrus, Hayden Panettiere, Demi Lovato, Kelly Osbourne, Jennifer Hudson, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, just to name a few.
Until There’s A Cure feels incredibly lucky to have individuals like Elton John and his annual star-studded guest list dedicated to helping to fund the fight against HIV/AIDS.
