2012 International AIDS Conference. The Problem

The Problem – 60 million people have been infected by HIV, and 1.8 million people die from AIDS annually. Known as a “disease of young people,” and disproportionately affects low and middle income countries, the HIV/AIDS epidemic continues to threaten the lives and well-being of people around the world.

Thirty years after the first appearance of HIV/AIDS, 25 million men, women, and children worldwide have battled this devastating disease and lost.

The International AIDS Conference starts July 22, 2012

We need to Re-Ignite the Conversation and Raise Awareness. We need to End Stigma and Discrimination. We need the next generation to take up the fight against HIV and end this pandemic.

Throughout the conference there are a few simple ways you can restart the conversation and raise awareness:

AIDS is a reality millions face every day, threatening lives and unequally affecting vulnerable populations based on race, gender, sexual orientation, and class.

Perhaps the greatest risk of HIV is believing it is no longer a problem.
